The Brand

From Self-Balancing Pioneer To Electric Road Bikes

Segway began in New Hampshire in 1999, built around inventor Dean Kamen’s self-balancing personal transport technology. Ninebot began separately in Beijing, working in robotics and personal mobility; the two businesses merged in 2015 to form Segway-Ninebot.

That background explains why its road scooters feel more like connected vehicles than petrol scooters with an electric motor fitted. The E-series combines low-mounted, removable batteries with app integration, battery management and security sensors. In 2024 the E110S, E125S and E300SE became the first Segway-Ninebot road-bike range sold through authorised dealers across Australia.

Built For The Commute

A Proper Scooter, Built Electric

These are seated, road-registerable scooters—not stand-up eRideables. The E110S and E125S are 45 km/h urban mopeds, while the E300SE steps up to motorcycle performance with a claimed 105 km/h top speed, dual-channel ABS and traction control.

Across the range, the useful electric details are the point: removable battery packs, smart battery management, app-connected vehicle information and security features. The right model depends on your licence, route and charging setup.

Common questions

Segway Questions

Are these the same as Segway stand-up e-scooters?

No. The E110S, E125S and E300SE are road-registerable, seated electric scooters with lights, indicators, mirrors and motorcycle-style controls. They are a different vehicle class from the lightweight stand-up eRideables used on paths.

Which Segway electric scooter can I ride on a car licence in WA?

The Australian E110S and E125S are 45 km/h electric mopeds. Under WA rules, a moped is designed not to exceed 50 km/h and may use a non-piston engine; a holder of a valid WA driver's licence for another vehicle class can ride one. The faster E300SE requires the appropriate motorcycle licence. Always confirm the registration class of the exact bike before purchase.

Can I remove the batteries to charge them?

Yes. The E-series uses removable lithium-ion battery packs, so they can be charged away from the scooter where that suits your parking setup. Battery count, charging time and range differ by model, so compare the exact specification before choosing.

What can the Segway-Ninebot app do?

Functions vary by model, but the E-series can connect the bike to the Segway-Ninebot app for features such as vehicle information, location and security alerts. Some models also support automatic locking and unlocking, ride data and over-the-air updates.

Where can I buy and service a Segway electric scooter in Perth?

ScooterShop sells Segway road scooters from Dianella and supports them through our workshop. You can view current stock online, ask about incoming bikes, and arrange servicing or repairs with the same team.
