Six-Year Warranty

Yes. As of September 2026, every new SYM scooter in Australia carries a 6-year warranty: 4 years to any owner, then a further 2 years (years 5 and 6) exclusive to the original owner and non-transferable, covering manufacturing defects up to 40,000 km and excluding batteries and consumables. A subsequent owner’s cover reverts to 2 years from the original purchase date. It is a manufacturer warranty, claimed through authorised SYM dealers and workshops like ours. SYM is the brand of Sanyang Motor Co., a Taiwanese manufacturer whose predecessor started in 1954 and which was incorporated in 1961. It began by assembling Honda machines under licence, later built Hyundai cars for the Taiwanese market, and today produces scooters, mopeds and motorcycles at plants in Taiwan, China and Vietnam, selling into around 90 countries.

SYM builds to a "Quality First" production standard with decades of engineering behind it — four-valve heads, ceramic-coated and steadite-alloy cylinders, and EFI fuel injection across much of the range. In practice they are known as dependable, easy to service, and cheaper to run and insure than the European badges, which is why they are a common first scooter and a common workshop favourite.
